United Way of Delaware County Announces Change in Leadership (Jul 25, 2008)

DELAWARE, Ohio- The United Way of Delaware County has announced the resignation of agency president, Katherine Tatterson Kreuchauf, effective August 22, 2008. Kreuchauf, who has served as president since 1997, is resigning to take a position as president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation of Findlay and Hancock County.

"Announcing my resignation is truly bittersweet," said Kreuchauf. "White I am excited to embark on such an amazing opportunity with the community foundation, I will miss all the staff, board members, volunteers, donors and corporate partners who make the United Way of Delaware County so extraordinary."

Steve Garlock, chairman of the United Way of Delaware County Board of Directors, noted that the board will be taking a very systematic and deliberate approach to finding the right person to fill the position. "We have some big shoes to fill," stated Garlock. "To ensure we find the perfect candidate to fill the position, we will be enlisting the services of a search firm that specializes in executive-level recruiting for foundations and non-profits."

In the interim, the United Way of Delaware County will be led by Mark Bergstedt, interim president, who will be supported by the board and staff. Bergstedt, a retired Nationwide Insurance executive, is the current and immediate past campaign chair who has also served as president and chairman of several 501c3 organizations. "I am excited to step up and take on this temporary role," said Bergstedt. "Kathy has established great relationships within the community and my primary goal is to expand upon those relationships while maintaining the momentum on key projects."

Among the projects, Bergstedt noted that the agency is in the process of planning the September kick-off breakfast for the 2008 campaign. "Our goal for 2008 is to raise $3.8 million, "Bergstedt stated, "this will put us 7% above what we were able to achieve in 2007." The agency will also begin recruiting volunteers for the annual Corporate Caring Day in the coming months.
